Dr. Mireya Mayor

Dr. Mireya Mayor is a primatologist, National Geographic Explorer, television host, and real-life explorer often described as the “Female Indiana Jones.” She has led expeditions around the world in search of rare and elusive animals, including the discovery of a new species of primate in Madagascar. Over her career, she has survived charging elephants, venomous snakes, and discovering new speicies in remote jungles — all in pursuit of wildlife and scientific discovery. Dr. Mayor currently stars on Discovery Channel’s hit series Expedition Bigfoot, where she brings a scientist’s perspective to the search for evidence of an undiscovered North American primate. Known for her open-minded but evidence-based approach, she studies primate behavior, movement, and physical evidence in the field to evaluate whether unknown primates could exist.
